Park Funding

Bonds in the amount of $29,000,000 were approved by voters in November 2011 to construct park and recreational facilities benefiting residents in Willow Fork Drainage District (WFDD). WFDD issued $5,980,000 in bonds in 2012 to fund Phase I of the District's park plan, including open space enhancements and park facilities at 10 Katy ISD schools within WFDD, a community Central Green, ball field improvements at Freedom Park, and the first phase of Exploration Park, a linear park along the District's diversion channel. WFDD has completed park facilities at the 10 schools in the District, ball field improvements at Freedom Park, Central Green Park in LaCenterra, and phase one of Exploration Park.

Phase II improvements from bond proceeds in the amount of $9,800,000 have also been completed, including Willow Fork Park, a 32-acre passive park adjacent to Cinco Ranch High School, phase two of Exploration Park, and trail enhancements to provide connectivity for residents throughout WFDD.

The Board is now constructing its Phase III improvements from bond proceeds in the amount of  $9,780,000. These improvements will consist entirely of trail extensions and enhancements within WFDD and expect to be fully completed in 2017 and 2018.
