Storm Water Quality Project

Proposed improvements for Willow Fork Drainage District’s Diversion Channel are part of a project designed to reduce the storm water sediment load by allowing sediment to settle out before reaching the main channel. In anticipation of future regulatory requirements, Willow Fork Drainage District has taken the lead on improving stormwater quality with this pilot project. The storm water quality project is being funded from current operating reserves that the District has budgeted and allocated for this project and is expected to be completed in 2016.

The Storm Water Quality Project sits adjacent to the District’s Exploration Park, which opened in the spring of 2015. In addition to improving storm water quality, TBG Partners has designed the project to transform the District’s diversion channel into a more natural, environmentally friendly channel, providing a strong context for the nearby park, which is designed to educate visitors about water conservation while providing a natural play environment.
