As part of a multi-phase project, the District is adding 15 more miles of off-street trails, including trailheads, wayfinding signage, street crossings, and four pedestrian bridges to more fully connect the trail system. These trails provide off-street connectivity within the District and begin to link existing local and regional destinations. When complete, the District will have nearly 45 miles of off-street trails for a total of 50 miles of trails when combined with sidewalks and street-side connections.

The first phase of trails completed in June 2016 added two pedestrian bridges to link Cinco Ranch High School and Cinco Ranch Junior High from neighborhoods to the north and a third bridge for access to Willow Fork Park. In 2019, a 200-foot pedestrian bridge over Buffalo Bayou provided a critical connection of two miles along the Buffalo Bayou and Diversion channels, enabling residents north of the Bayou to access Beck Junior High, Exploration Park and connect into Barker Reservoir and George Bush Park.

In 2020, additional trailhead, wayfinding, street crossing, quarter mile marker, and alligator warning signage was added to improve navigation and safety. To further enhance connectivity and safety, signalized, signed and marked street crossings where there is high pedestrian traffic were also constructed, and a pedestrian underpass at Westheimer Parkway just west of Cinco Ranch Blvd. is set to break ground in spring 2021.
